The future of our industry: Still in school
At Patch we believe that many of the ideas that will shape the future of digital media and journalism will come (not surprisingly) from the next generation who are now in business and j-schools. Those passionate students will challenge established models and help us constantly reinvent the world of media. For that reason, we love to work with these schools as much as possible. We offer real-world experience and coaching to students at over 100 institutions through our PatchU program. And as often as possible we get to meet with classes and talk about what we're doing. Last night I spoke at the Iona College Mass Communications Department and had a great conversation with students, a couple Patch editors, and Professor Thomas Callahan. My message was basically this: Here's what we're doing at Patch and why; Here's my take on what we can expect in the near future; You will be a big part of how this industry develops; And finally, contrary to popular opinion, the future of local media is incredibly bright and exciting! Thanks to Iona for having me, and I'm off to Stanford's Graduate School of Business next week to talk about the future of media.

1. Solid professional talent is what's needed to maintain good content on websites today. Websites not only need a good template. They need good keyword content and and description.

2. I think one of the most serious problems with journalists is censorship,, and as deTocqueville stated in Democracy in America is that the media cannot sit on the fence,,either they are censored or they are not..

3. I just wanted to add this to my last comment,, the media,,journalism in particuler have really taken a hit with the internet,, and I think and believe the reason for that is because people are tired of being told what to believe, they want the truth.. They don't want glossy evaluations that do not get at the truth.. When they communicate with each other without going through the middleman, they can discuss things more readily and truthfully than the media. People can explore issues that are,, well more truthful .I do trust the media but as Reagan stated,,always verify..
I can give you an example.. Jeanne Carnavale was hired by this admin as treasurer, her husband was fired from the last admin for dishonest conduct.. I do not blame Jeanne but I feel she would know what was going on and everything was passed over because her last name is Torigian.. I feel uncomfortable with this appointment...any intelligent comments out there? and if this website feels uncomfortable with my comments,,tell me, don't censor..Please

4. You have posted a nice and interesting blog. Students are now expected to be talented and bold. If one has deep knowledge on any damn topic that he/she can write or say anything related to that. What you need to have is knowledge.

5. Foil electric shavers use oscillating rotor blades that are addressed by a mesh foil. Since the individual fur poke using the holes inside the foil, the rotor blades (beneath the foil) move quickly laterally to reduce hair. Single foil electric shavers that really http://bestelectricshaverhq.org work ideal for slow growing beards. Double and triple-foil electric shavers cut getting a quicker edge action.
The goal of the foil is always to safeguard the skin from getting cut with the rotary rotor blades, therefore, the foil needs to be very thin to have the ability to have the rotor rotor blades as near the skin as you can, offering a far more in-depth shave. A cracked or broken foil can expose the rotor rotor blades, resulting in the risk of serious harm. Damaged foils needs to be transformed as rapidly as you possibly can. Avoid the shaver prior to the foil remains changed.
